TheCD4+countwas7cellspermicroliter.
InductiontherapywithliposomalamphotericinBandflucytosinewasstarted,andresolutionofsymptomsandnegativeresultsonCSFculturewerenotedafter2weeksoftreatment.
Consolidationtherapywithfluconazolewasstarted,andantiretroviraltherapywaslaterprescribed.
